The Periowave™ Experience

Quick, painless, and effective; Periowave offers an experience unlike any other in dental therapy.

What to expect in the clinic:

Periowave is a painless and stress-free procedure for both the patient and the clinician. The treatment follows thorough scaling and root planing and can be carried out immediately or a few days later. In patients with chronic adult periodontitis, Periowave has been proven in clinical trials to significantly reduce pocket depth, bleeding on probing, and improve clinical attachment level.

Each laser treatment cycle is only 60 seconds. No heat is generated during treatment and therefore no tissue is burned. The selective action of the photosensitizing solution and light illumination avoids damage to healthy human tissue. The patient should experience no pain during this short light activation procedure. Deeper pockets may require a second or third treatment.

Stress Free Dentistry:

Standard Therapy without Periowave™

The patient receives professional scaling and root planing from the dental professional. However, patients may leave the dental office with up to 63% of the pathogenic bacteria associated with periodontal disease remaining below the gumline.

Homecare methods are often insufficient to manage the bacteria deep below the gum line, and calculus re-establishes. The patient’s host immune response results in damage to gingival tissue and periodontal bone structure.

Periowave™ Therapy

The patient receives Periowave treatment after professional scaling and root planing. This simple treatment instantly destroys many of the toxins, inflammatory molecules and pathogenic bacteria that are often left behind after scaling and root planing.

The patient leaves the dental office without the need for any home compliance, significantly fewer pathogenic bacteria below the gum line, and a visible reduction in inflammation. Without the presence of the harmful toxins, inflammatory molecules and pathogenic bacteria associated with periodontal disease, the body begins the process of healing. A reduction in pocket depth, bleeding on probing, and improvement in clinical attachment can be observed.
