Each laser treatment cycle is only 60 seconds. No heat is generated during treatment and therefore no tissue is burned. The selective action of the photosensitizing solution and light illumination avoids damage to healthy human tissue. The patient should experience no pain during this short light activation procedure. Deeper pockets may require a second or third treatment.
