Patient Profile:
52-year old East Indian woman on a regular 4-month recall. Previous surgical treatment
for generalized severe periodontitis. Post-surgery all areas stable except for recurrent
6 mm bleeding pocket.
Treatment protocol:
Scaling and root planing with local anaesthetic and treatment with Periowave.
Result:
4 months after treatment pockets reduced from 6 mm to 3 mm.

Patient Profile:
45-year old woman with ill tting crowns. Generalized 4-5 mm probing depths with
moderate bleeding.
Treatment protocol:
Scaling and root planing with local anaesthetic and treatment with Periowave.
Result:
Re-evaluation at 6 weeks showed reduction of probing depths and no evidence of bleeding.

Patient Profile:
30-year old woman with 12-month onset of severe gingival bleeding when brushing
and eating. After a complete medical work up no signi cant ndings. Oral hygiene
found to be good with minimal plaque and recall appointments up to date. No clinical
improvement of bleeding on probing found after regular scaling and root planing
appts.
Treatment protocol:
Treated areas with Periowave.
Result:
Within 1 week there was no evidence of BOP. 6-week follow-up showed a pocket reduction
from 7 mm – 3 mm.

Patient Profile:
62-year old male with generalized 6-8 mm probing depths accompanied by bleeding
and suppuration.
Treatment protocol:
Patient refused periodontal surgery so scaling and root planing with local anaesthetic
was provided. Periowave treatments at 6-week intervals were also added to the treatment
plan.
Result:
At 6 weeks there was a reduction in BOP and at 12 weeks no evidence of bleeding.
Pocket depths reduced to 3 mm and 4 mm. Patient was put on a 4-month recall and
given Periowave treatment as needed.
